Moon does not go to school and does not go into town. The only person that they trust is Mr. He works at a convenience store near where they live.
When his dad dies he took a wheelbarrow and put his dad in it and too The plot is that Moon parents died the mom died of some kind of sickness, the dad dies of an infection of the leg.
When his dad dies he took a wheelbarrow and put his dad in it and took it where his mom was buried. Sanders, a policeman, found Moon and told him to get to the car and took him to jail and then he went to Pinson which is a place for boys home.
While there, he met Kit and Hal, and Moon was trying to make an escape plan. If you want to go ahead.
The escape plan worked and Kit and Hal and Moon and every one that was at Pinson went on a bus that Hal stole and went to the forest to run away from Pinson.
Sanders was living by there or was checking out because he saw the bus. He attempted to find Moon, Hal,and Kit.
All the kids except for Moon , Hal, and Kit, stayed on the bus and the other boys went on. Weeks later Hal left to see his dad and Moon and Kit were the only ones left, Hal did not like the forest life he wanted some meat but only ate cattails, and he had ticks in his hair and was very hungry.
He was homesick and wanted to go to his dad, He found his dad and Kit got sick and Moon drug Kit Kit on a sled that Moon made with blankets to go get help.
He saw a car he ran out to get attention and he left Kit and he reached him and the woman and the man took him to a hospital.
When Moon was by himself he slept and then he saw a truck and he looked closely and he saw Hal again with his dad and they went to retrieve Moon to get him back to his house to change and take a shower.
Also take care of him and hide him away from Sanders. The character I like has to be Moon he is outdoor person and he is a survivalist.
He knows more than me or I don't know about nature. The other hand I don't like Sanders the policeman because he likes to curse a lot and he choked Moon.
He likes to hurt people and forced people to do stuff. What would I rate this book 5 stars out of five because the book is so branchy with the plot.
Also I would recommend this book for people who likes suspense. The reason why it's suspenseful because Sanders could find them but again he could not or something on those lines.
Oct 15, David Barajas rated it it was amazing. I personally thought this book was really interesting in the way it portrayed the main character's feelings and thoughts.
I would say that Moon would be the most stubborn person you would ever meet if he were real. I also thought that it was interesting in how his character changed throughout the novel, in the beginning he did not care for anybody except himself and his well being.
This is because he had adapted to the lifestyle of being isolated. Throughout the ending of the book, because he wa I personally thought this book was really interesting in the way it portrayed the main character's feelings and thoughts.
Throughout the ending of the book, because he was sent to an Alabama institution which made him view the real world, he adapted into being more considerate of others and more open minded, which made him change his opinion into living with his uncle.
It amazes me the lifestyle that his father had chosen for them, living isolated without the government because he thought the government was evil.
This 10 year old boy also seemed to know a lot about living in the wild, and his plans for escaping were brilliant. Even if he had a strong grasp on how to survive, he shouldn't have tried to go to Alaska, just to find others like them.
I don't know if it was bad or good luck when he encountered the officer. My favorite character in this story would probably be Kit.
I liked how his personality was, and his courage of wanting to escape even though he was gravely ill. It was very sad when Moon wasn't able to make his medicine in the forest, so he had to send him back home, because he was his best friend, and he feared of never seeing again, but if he didn't take him back he wouldn't ever see him again.
This internal conflict was interesting, but eventually he did the most logical choice. Hal was also a pretty interesting person, and it was kind of weird how at first they had been enemies, but then they realized they needed each other to reach their temporary dreams.
I didn't like it how these three good friends had to split apart by the end of the story, because Moon seemed to be happy since they were his first friends.
Dec 06, Richard rated it it was amazing. The reason i chose this book is because its about the outdoors, hunting and ect. There living under there cause Pap the dad doesnt like the goverment.
This book mainly takes place in a forest. Moon and his dad were out checking there traps to see if they got anything. One trap was across a river that was frozen.
The dad went first to make sure it was safe to walk on. As soon as the dad walked on the ice it broke and he The reason i chose this book is because its about the outdoors, hunting and ect.
As soon as the dad walked on the ice it broke and he fell through. Moon was all alone he went to a store to trade some things for money.
Then Constable Sanders walked in to get moon cause he was living on property he couldnt be on. So Sanders took him to pinson a home for kids..
Moon was trying to find an escape plan to get out he asked two of his friends he made there to help get out and head to Alaska were his father asked him to go.
Moon and his friends climbed on the roof of pinson and jumped over the fence ran to bus that it had. He found the keys under the seat and started it and went to the woods were his old shelter was.
One got sick and hitched a ride to the hospital and the other went off to find and live with his dad. Moon gets lonely and decides to turn himself in.
So he went to a local hunting lodge to turn himself in. The lawyer feels bad for what the cop did to him so he went out to find if moon ahad and any family living still and his uncle adopted him Feb 17, BrennenN added it.
It is a baller book and the end is sad. The ending is the best part of the book and it makes you enjoy your family. I can see why this book is rated so good by all the critics.
Nov 14, Mrs. Strudthoff rated it really liked it. A book for Gary Paulsen's Hatchet fans! Moon and his father live in a makeshift cave on the abandoned property of a logging company.
Moon's mother died years ago and is buried up near the cedar grove. Moon is really not sure when his family came to live in the forest.
All he knows is that his father hates the government and is preparing for the day when a war breaks out. Moon's father teaches him everything he needs to know to live off the land and even has time to teach him how to read Finally!
Moon's father teaches him everything he needs to know to live off the land and even has time to teach him how to read at the end of the day.
Moon loves his life and is one with nature. Suddenly, Moon's ideal life comes to an end when his father has an accident and dies of an infection.
After burying his dad, Moon goes into town to see if the store owner can help him get to Alaska, the place his father told him to go.
But, instead of helping him, the store owner wants Moon to be taken to a children's home. Moon runs aways but is captured by a corrupt and mean Constable Sanders who takes him to a youth detention facility.
Moon's life in the forest made him resourceful and on his first night there, he and the other boys escape. Moon and two of his friends Kit and Hal travel to a nearby national forest where Moon teaches them the way of the forest.
But Sanders is still hot on their trail. Soon, the boys hear dogs in the distance, dogs meant to hunt them down. Alabama Moon is an wilderness adventure story with just enough surprises to keep you turning the pages.
Jan 13, Eric Keck rated it really liked it. But I must say that once I read a few chapters I realized how strong this book is.
By which I mean that it has such a great message which is clearly expressed by Watt Key. I find this message to be perfect regarding the fact that this book was made for y "Alabama Moon" by Watt Key is a book that couldn't really interest me from it's blurb.
I find this message to be perfect regarding the fact that this book was made for young adults, who have to start losing dependence and become more independent.
Alabama Moon get's you to think how difficult it could be to stay alive as a young child, and shows you all the components you need to survive in the woods with practically no contact to the modern world.
Though Moon Blake Protagonist and his father were never supportive with modernization, Moon Blake occasionally sees a plane fly over the forest and seems somewhat amazed by it.
Which shows the reader that the young boy is not entirely like his father, the father is completely cut out from the modern world and does not find anything 'fascinating' about it.
Where on the other hand Moon finds these planes which were a clear part of modernization 'fascinating' which shows that he's more vulnerable to the modern world than his father.
Alabama Moon is a book I strongly recommend since it can change people perspectives on the way they live, and start appreciating what they have more carefully.
Mar 09, Ani Abgaryan rated it it was amazing. I choose this book because I had seen the movie and was so excited to hear that there was a book.
This book is about a young boy named Moon who lived in a little home in the forest who had also lost his mother and father.
Moons father died the next day and after the burial Moon made a plan to go to Alaska. Unfo I choose this book because I had seen the movie and was so excited to hear that there was a book.
He had made two friend named Kit and Hal and they all brock out. After a while Hal go annoyed and went home to his father and later on Kit got every ill.
After a long time Moon found out that Kit had passed away. Then after a hard and painful journey Moon went to live with the uncle he never knew he had.
I like the way the author wrote this story as if he lived every second. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good cry.
Sep 02, Sara Jacobs rated it it was amazing. I am currently reading Alabama Moon in reading class with my teacher and classmates.
It is a very good book. The plot of the book is Moon is a little boy who lived in a forest with his dad. Before his dad died he told Moon to got Alaska to live with people who were just like them.
On his way there he got caught by Constable Sanders and they took him to jail. After he left the jail they took him to I am currently reading Alabama Moon in reading class with my teacher and classmates.
After he left the jail they took him to a boys home. I really enjoy reading it because I like the characters.
I like the characters because they are funny. Gene, and Mr. I am going to be on chapter 36 in the book.
I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because it is the most awesome book I have ever read. Feb 10, Carrie rated it really liked it.
If I ever get lost in the woods, I hope Moon will find me and teach me how to survive. Right off I thought Moon was a strong character.
Moon and his father have survived off the land ever since Moon was a year old. When his father dies Moon is 10yrs old and forced to make it on his own.
He escapes and takes two other boys with him. Together they try to make it in the forest but in the end it gets to be too much for his friend Hal and he leaves to find the father he has always wanted to live with.
Together Moon and his best friend, Kit continues on until Kit gets sick. While all this is going on, Constable Sanders is hunting them down but the boys are always a step ahead of him; that is until Moon slips into the hospital to visit Kit and is caught again.
He must now prove he is innocent to the things Sanders is accusing him of. Great story! Aug 25, Nik Garcia rated it really liked it.
While in Pinson, he met Kit and Hal. Then they eventually escaped into the wilderness. Then after a couple weeks Hal was getting sick of living out there with Kit and Moon.
Now Sanders is back and Moon set a trap and he toppled down a hill. Currently we are at the point where Kit gets sick.
Moon gets a car to stop and take Kit to the hospital. I think it is a fantastic book. Old Man Shannon Hand Receptionist as Shannon Maris Tammi Arender TV Reporter Dixie Snapper Rest of cast listed alphabetically: Annalise Basso Cousin Alice uncredited Albert H.
